Callaway BIG BERTHA Drivers, Fairways, Hybrids and Irons (2023)
Callaway’s new Big Bertha line-up should really be viewed as one of the most important releases of 2023.
It’s almost mandated under the golfing orthodoxy that beginners will slice the ball; and for many, a slicing ball flight will remain a perpetual thorn in the side. A by-product of golf’s recent participation boom has been a massive surge of moping, slice-afflicted golfers.
Viewed through the prism of demand versus supply, the new Big Bertha range is a balance-restoring masterstroke by Callaway. If you slice the ball, the Big Bertha line-up of Drivers, Fairway Woods, Hybrids and Irons will straighten you up — and you don’t need to change a thing.
So forget about the Paradym. And cancel your lessons.
Because when Big Bertha drops, the slice will stop.

DRIVERS
BIG BERTHA drivers feature low spinning and draw-biased performance, for straighter ball flights and exceptional distance.
WOODS & HYBRIDS
BIG BERTHA fairways and hybrids are easy to launch, ultra-forgiving and offer confidence-boosting performance.
CALLAWAY BIG BERTHA DRIVERS
The 2023 BIG BERTHA driver is more corrective, rather than preventative, when it comes to killing a slice off the tee.
Where other drivers feature an offset head designed to address the problem at the source (an open club face at impact), the Big Bertha goes about it differently.
Its design features an ultra-low, forward-biased centre of gravity that reduces the distance-killing side spin that causes a slice. And there’s also an internal heel weight that biases the Big Bertha driver for a drawing ball flight. It means the new Big Bertha looks and feels like a regular driver. But dwelling within its design is some slice-reducing secret sauce.
Lightweight and easy to swing, the Big Bertha driver will straighten you up whenever your swing gets too steep and across the line.

Driver Technology
High-Strength XL Face
After thousands of attempts, Callaway’s supercomputer has coughed up a brilliant new Big Bertha driver face. Its extra-large sweet spot promotes ball speed and optimises spin all over the face for straight, long drives every time.
Anti-Slice Design
Callaway have positioned the Big Bertha driver’s centre of gravity low and forward and added internal weighting to the heel area. The combination reduces slice spin while promoting a draw bias for longer, straighter drives.
Jailbreak A.I.
Callaway’s Jailbreak tech, which strengthens and stiffens the driver body and its carbon fibre crown. Lightweight components direct more energy into the ball at impact to create extra fizz off the face and increase carry distance.

CALLAWAY BIG BERTHA FAIRWAY WOODS
The Fairway woods and drivers often have much in common, but Callaway have grabbed the parking brake and done a rapid U-turn with their 2023 BIG BERTHA fairway woods.
While the spin-reducing design of the driver limits the effects of a slice, Big Bertha fairway woods spin quite readily — all in the name of making it easier to get the ball in the air.
And, unlike the driver, there is offset on the face for slice prevention — although it’s by no means an unsettling amount. A carbon fibre crown, Jailbreak Batwing tech and A.I.-designed face make Big Bertha fairway woods fast, light and highly forgiving. And while it’s probably not a great surprise, Big Bertha fairways are big.
More surprising, however, is the shallow face design. It’s like someone has put a regular fairway wood in a vice and squashed it. It’s a bit of visual trickery, designed to boost confidence when the wood is sitting behind the ball at address.
So if you’re struggling with your current fairways, Big Bertha may be the magic bullet you’re looking for.

Fairway Technology
High-Strength Face
An A.I.-designed face isn’t new in golf but Callaway’s supercomputer has spat out a unique face design for each BIG BERTHA fairway wood. It enhances speed & spin across the entire face to expand the sweet spot.
Carbon Crown & Jailbreak
Callaway have incorporated a lightweight carbon fibre crown with their revised Batwing stabilising system that extends to the perimeter of the head for greater flexibility in the face for a sizeable speed & distance boost
New Head Shape
The oversized profile and shallow face of Big Bertha fairway woods promote a towering launch, while progressive shaft lengths across the range promote consistent contact and optimise carry distance.

CALLAWAY BIG BERTHA HYBRIDS
The 2023 BIG BERTHA hybrids are much closer in size to a small fairway wood than long iron replacement, but in the game-improvement category that’s par for the course. Big Bertha hybrids mimic Big Bertha fairway woods in many facets.
An oversized head shape makes Big Bertha hybrids incredibly easy to hit and forgiving while the face offset is a slice-fighter. But there’s also some iron-tech baked in. The A.I.-designed face cup — unique to each loft — flexes and rebounds efficiently to optimise speed and spin across the hybrid’s face. And the internal tungsten weighting enhances launch and forgiveness.
Big Bertha hybrids are designed to boost your confidence and integrate seamlessly with Big Bertha irons.

The new Big Bertha hybrids feature internal tungsten weighting that optimises the centre of gravity and enhances launch and trajectory.
A.I. Designed Face Cup
Every model of Big Bertha hybrid features its own unique face cup design, which optimises spin and launch according to loft.

CALLAWAY BIG BERTHA IRONS
There’s a lot to unpack with the 2023 BIG BERTHA irons. As super game-improvement irons, they pledge allegiance to the higher handicap spectrum and players who require enduring assistance to improve performance. As such, they are absolutely crammed with tech that increases both speed and distance.
Fitting a bonanza of tech into an iron head means Big Bertha irons are rather massive and chunky — in no way do they exude even the remotest of tour vibes.
With oversized heads and wide soles, they are made for swings that aren’t perfect. But thanks to an A.I.-designed face, Big Bertha irons are long, fast and forgiving. And with 54g of tungsten weighting sitting near the sole, they launch like they’re on autopilot.
Big Bertha irons help eradicate a slice, with massive offset in each loft, while the thick top line is a confidence-boosting sight higher handicap golfers will appreciate at address.
New Zealand Release Date: May 12, 2023
Iron Technology
AI-Designed Face Cup
Every Big Bertha iron has a unique A.I.-designed face architecture to maximise ball speed and optimise spin according to loft.
Urethane Microspheres
A slab of microsphere-populated urethane is inserted into each Big Bertha iron. It soaks up vibrations for a pure feel, without impacting ball speed.
Tungsten Weighting
Over 50g of tungsten weighting features in every Big Bertha iron. It creates high-launching long irons, control-centric short irons and maximum forgiveness.
