Golf HQ was born from a simple idea: golf retail could be better.

Founded in 2016 by Blake Cowley and Hamish Grant, Golf HQ started on Auckland's North Shore with a genuine passion for the game and a desire to offer golfers something different; expert advice, quality products, and service that feels personal.

From day one, Golf HQ has been about more than simply selling golf equipment. It's about helping people enjoy the game more.

Ten years on, that philosophy remains at the heart of everything we do.

From Local Beginnings to Golfers Nationwide

What began as a local golf business on Auckland's North Shore has grown into a nationwide retailer, serving golfers right across New Zealand both in-store and online.

As Golf HQ has grown, so too has what we offer. Today, our business brings together retail, online shopping, professional club fitting, PGA coaching, repairs and simulator experiences.

The Whangaparaoa store became an important part of the Golf HQ story, serving its local golfing community for many years. Takapuna then expanded our presence across the North Shore, providing another destination for golfers to shop, get fitted and seek expert advice. 

Over time, our online store has allowed us to take the same product knowledge and personal service beyond Auckland, connecting Golf HQ with golfers throughout New Zealand.

A New Chapter in Silverdale

2026 marks an important milestone for Golf HQ - 10 years in business.

After a decade of growth, we're entering an exciting new chapter with our move to a new facility in Silverdale.

Our new home brings together a larger retail operation and more of the Golf HQ experience under one roof. It's a place where golfers can shop, get professionally fitted, work with PGA coaches, repair their equipment and experience golf on our three indoor simulators.

But the move represents more than simply a new address.

It reflects how far Golf HQ has come since 2016, and where we're heading next.
